METHOD 1 — DELETE (RESET) DATABASE
Purpose: Fix chart delay, wrong timestamps, missing ticks, slow chart loading
What This Clears
- Historical price data (tick/min/day)
- Corrupt or mismatched instrument data
- Market replay remnants
What It Does NOT Affect
- Indicators
- Strategies
- Workspaces
- Accounts
- License
Steps (SAFE METHOD)
- Close NinjaTrader completely
- Go to:
Documents\NinjaTrader 8\ - Delete "db" folder
- Start NinjaTrader
- Open charts and allow historical data to reload
When to Use
- 1–5 minute chart delay
- Bars loading slowly
- Charts “catching up”
- Used Tick Replay or Market Replay before
METHOD 2 — CLEAR CACHE (Soft Method)
Purpose: Fix UI lag, freezing, slow indicators, graphical glitches
What This Clears
- Compiled indicator cache
- UI rendering cache
- Temporary NinjaTrader files
What It Does NOT Affect
- Historical data
- Indicators
- Workspaces
- Strategies
Steps
- Close NinjaTrader completely
- Go to:
Documents\NinjaTrader 8\db - Delete "Cache" folder
- Start NinjaTrader
- Restart NinjaTrader
When to Use
- Platform feels slow
- Indicators load slowly
- Chart scrolling is laggy
- No actual timestamp delay, just performance issues
